An SFR-SCCA long-time member and legal secretary Scotty Crawford kept mentioning Sears Point in the late 1980s to mid-1990s when I was also working as legal secretary before retiring. At the time I lived in Novato, only about 15 minutes from Sears Point. I finally asked Scotty when SCCA would be at the track next, April 1996. I drove over, Scotty directed me to the then timing & scoring trailer, and I was hooked.
Currently I am SCCA Chief of Sound Control at all 3 tracks; Thunderhill Raceway, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and Sonoma Raceway.
It’s family and everyone pitches in no matter what’s going on.
It’s fun and I love the family.
Monitoring the decibel levels of cars on course and posting offenders, especially at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
It’s dry and warm in winter and cool in summer, we’re indoors at all 3 tracks. And no special talents are required except reading a meter and writing down the readings on the forms provided.
Thank you Cornelia the club really appreciates all the work and effort you put to help the racers and volunteers.
